Background Checks
We conduct annual state and national criminal background checks on every plumber in our network.
Our background screening goes beyond name checks—it includes fingerprint-based records searches through the Massachusetts State Police and the FBI’s Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System. We look for offenses related to theft, fraud, assault, and sexual misconduct, with particular attention to violations involving homeowners or property. These checks are done only with explicit consent from the individual and renewed each year.
Given the access plumbers have to homes and businesses—including keys, alarm systems, and personal spaces—background verification matters more in Boston than in many cities. Neighborhoods with historic homes often see long gaps between residents, leaving properties vulnerable during renovations. A clean record helps ensure trust, especially for elderly clients or families with young children.
We do not rely solely on self-reported disclosures or incomplete county searches. By including federal and state databases, we catch convictions across state lines and resolve name discrepancies using biometric data where possible. This depth is rare in consumer services and ensures that any red flags are caught early, long before a plumber reaches our directory.
